The word for harbours, places of refuge and discovery. In the spirit of encouraging both we present you with our explorations of this beautiful planet of ours.

Albion House

Albion House

You turn the winding road up to East cliff past the lush Albion Gardens and there it stands; a soft bluish grey corner building overlooking the sea. You know it must be Albion House because  a loving care has been taken to bring the once derelict building back to such elegant life; the story of its refurbishment is a favourite of those who love Georgian & Regency architecture.

Every detail in the building is carefully considered, from the plush and eclectic furnishings to the earplugs offered in the antique bedside tables. After all, your joy and comfort are the main priority for the owners, whose lovely message on your coffee table makes you feel like you are staying with the most tender of friends.

We recommend SUITE WITH SEA VIEW & BALCONY with its wrap around balcony where you can watch the sun rise & set.. You can spend your afternoons on it reading or watching the locals make their way down to the beach just across from you. The strange chatter of seagulls and the sense that you have stepped back into some lost bit of time will be something that stays with you after this visit. Sailboats dot the blue expanse reaching out all the way to France. This was one of the ports that sent their small boats out to save the troops as immortalized in the film 'Dunkirk'.

Mealtimes are a lazy pleasure with the excellent wine recommendations by the friendly staff at Townleys. You can also make your way along the harbour for more food options and a walk along the beach is a must, in any weather.
